Hi, I'm Jamie!

I grew up in Portland and love living in Woodstock with my family.  We are goofy, active, playful, and love to run in the sprinkler when it's hot.

I started Woodstock Garden School in Summer of 2023 because I wanted a nature-based, child-led play school for my own toddler, and I know the struggle to find quality childcare for under-3s in Portland.  I have an MA in Education and have taught K-12th grade.  I've also taught organic farming to teens and young adults in beautiful Napa Valley and traditional construction on a retreat center in very rural Croatia.  I also worked as a staff outdoor educator at Outdoor School here in Portland and as a school administrator for 3 years in Luoyang, Henan, China.  I am always looking for ways to make my school more fun, more engaging, and more kind for the families we serve.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have!

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn!

I recently moved to the Portland area from western Montana with my boyfriend and our cat. I enjoy crocheting, playing in the rain and am looking forward to all of the beautiful hikes in the Portland area. I have worked in childcare in some way most of my adult life. I was a nanny right out of high school and worked in a children's clothing store for a bit. After that I decided it was childcare that I really enjoyed and worked as a lead teacher in a 0-2 year old room for 4 years, until I moved. I am so excited to get to watch the kids as they learn and discover all that their world has to offer.

Hi, I’m Madeline!

I grew up in the Portland metro area and have been living in Woodstock for the last four years with my husband and all our pets. I love animals… I have a dog, three cats, a corn snake and two royal pythons! I also enjoy walking my dog, cooking, nurturing my houseplants, and crafting. I began my journey in early childhood education in the fall of 2022 at a preschool in Northeast Portland teaching children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Our philosophy emphasized social emotional skills and development through art, music, community, nature, and play. I hope to continue to guide children as they discover the world, learn new skills, create, and have fun!

Hello!

I'm Ursula. I'm a lifelong portlander, with a love of nature, community, art, and all the other wonderful things the PNW has to offer!

I have been working as a teacher since 2020, with some babysitting and volunteer experience (OMSI and Rock n roll camp for girls!) prior to that.

I feel so fortunate to be doing this work. To be able support and bear witness to the growth and evolution of these remarkable young humans is such a highlight in my life!

I have a background in emergent, child-led learning and see my role as a facilitator. My intent is to help create a safe and supportive space for children to express themselves and explore learning through play, experimentation, and problem solving.

Children have an innate wisdom and desire to learn that I feel is so important to honor.

Wether we're outside playing, reading a story, singing songs or doing an art project, it's a joy to see all the growth and exploration that takes place at WGS every day!

Hi, I’m Hillary!

Hey friends! I am an enthusiastic and fun-loving educator who is dedicated to nurturing young minds through play and exploration.

Some of my diverse professional experience includes creating and teaching art & cooking classes for kids, as well as assisting in a local special education preschool program.

Outside of school, you'll find me making a creative mess of some kind or another. Usually cooking for loved ones, sewing stuffies from old socks, or tinkering in the garden.

My goal is to empower students to become confident, curious individuals with a lifelong love for learning.
